Pungent and Pure...

How would you describe the fragrance of ginger?

I think of it with the same description for the word of God...

pungent...pure...clean

this bowl of ginger is our first harvest here on the farm

I love the fragrance of ginger...
and it's especially nice when combined with lime and honey

to make this gingerade...

grate a root of ginger (you don't need to peel it, just lightly scrub clean)
steep in 4 cups hot water until the water cools
strain the ginger juice and discard root
stir in the juice of 1 lime
sprinkle in a little lime zest (or you can steep it with the ginger)
stir in enough raw honey to taste

a healthy drink that's good...
and good for colds and coughs

drink it heated up for cool weather
drink as an iced cool "ade" for warmer weather

when the ginger was cut open...
the fragrance brought to mind Psalm 19:7-10

The law of the Lord is perfect,
converting the soul:
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple.
The statutes of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring for ever:
the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired than gold, yea,
than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

May the grace of God go with you this day, or night.

The Fringe...

My younger rooster...
Li'l Roo seems to rather like following me around

we went into the garden...

to check on the corn

not quite ready, yet

the peppers are still green

we like to pick them red...
more nutritious when ripe

the mango tree is doing well...

soon...
we will have lots of mangoes to eat

I did get to bring in some cauliflower and seasoning peppers for dinner

but, wait...
there's more

come a little bit closer...
and see what my camera caught among the carrot greens

not close enough

a bit better...
do you see the fringe?
this tiny butterfly or moth, maybe?...
only about 1 inch or so in wingspan...
has a fringe

look closely...
and you'll see it
click on the photo for an even better look

see, even the Lord enjoys a fringe on His creation!

May the Lord beautify your day, or night with His blessings.

Brooding today...

but, only over the eggs...
more eggs, please

May your day, or night be filled with God's grace.

Hooked...!

I admit it...

I'm hooked on roses...

I thought the pale pink ones would be my favorite among my roses...

but, this pink makes me take a second look

peek-a-boo...
glad you're not blue...
because I think...
I like this pink

really...
this is their true color

ah yes, Shadow dear...
at least, you have clean teeth

so, what did I do with the two roses above?

why, I couldn't help myself
they couldn't be allowed to wallow outside in their beauty all by themselves
the terra cotta vase was whipped out and filled with muessanda, mint...
and of course, the deliciously very pink roses

beautiful roses brings beautiful words of God to mind

the love the Lord Jesus Christ has for His church is captured beautifully
in Solomon's Song in the Bible

I am the rose of Sharon,
and the lily of the valleys.
As the lily among thorns,
so is my love among the daughters.
My beloved spake,
and said unto me,
Rise up, my love, my fair one,
and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past,
the rain is over and gone;
the flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds is come,
and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land...
My beloved is mine,
and I am his:
he feedeth among the lilies.
Solomon's Song 2: 1,2, 10-12, 16

May the Lord color your day, or night in rosy sweetness by His grace.

Almost...

This is Shadow...

he learned to stop chasing the chickens...

he learned to stop jumping the fence and gates...

but, he hasn't learned to stop chasing the sheep and goats

that's right, Shadow, for shame

we almost gave you away...
what were we thinking

somehow, together...
we will learn how to deal with the livestock

you were meant to be our dog, Shadow...
but, it was a close call...
almost

there is hope...
a local dog trainer said...
"oh, that is an easy one to fix"
he will help us help Shadow

good thing...
because, Shadow was almost given away
I wouldn't have forgiven myself

stay, Shadow, stay

May your day, or night be blessed with the Lord's grace.

What Grows Under Godzilla...

We call our behemoth of a bamboo tree...
Godzilla

She sits at the edge of our vegetable garden at about 40 feet high and just as wide

under Godzilla along the fence grows a passionfruit vine

at only a few months old...
the vine is starting to flower

beautiful flowers

that start as this bud

and open to show just how lovely...

the Lord God paints His earth

even the back doesn't hide it's lovely fringe

and if you look closely towards the petal near the bottom center...
you can see a tiny creature of a spider...
hiding under the fringe

a rose and 7 buds for you

May God's grace bless your day, or night.

When a Chicken will Nap...

This is what happens when the warm afternoon meets a chick

"Mama, what's wrong with that chicken?"

"Oh, it's just one of those things in a chicken's life"

"Mama, will that chicken be okay?"

"Sure, she will"

"Hey there! Chicken! Wake up!"

"I'm awake, I'm awake"

May the Lord grace your day, or night.

A Morning with Goats...

Come on down the road with us...

where the kampesh trees are blossoming...

flowers that bring the bees

and into a field filled with natural arbors

and the bacano and banana trees are covered with flowering vines...

in a long neglected and forgotten green world...

where goats are hidden away...

and dogs know there are bush animals under the carpet of green...

this is where we have our goats...

who look for the promise of treats...

bananas and papayas...

and in through the tunnels of vine covered citrus trees...

we find...

more goats

these are the babies that are now half grown...

the twin girls of December...

and now, with another added girl...

Queenie, soon to give birth

and little Orphan Annie, who too, will give us another kid

they all devour with greed the bacano leaves

and who can help getting spotted by all the juicy greens

then, there is Curly...

who has grown into a big, burly ram, the daddy of the twins and the ones to come

with the goats contentedly munching on their goodies...

we retrieve back through the arbors and bush...

out into the open field stepping into a green carpet of morning glory flowers

looking deliciously silky in their array of purples...

and coconut trees filled with coconuts...

and, it's time to head back down the road...

and not to forget Ms. Ruthie MooMoo, the cow...

my husband carries back a load of bacano leaves she loves to chew...

somewhere down below the cottage

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee;
and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
O speak to the earth,
and it shall teach thee:
and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
Who knoweth not in all these
that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing,
and the breath of all mankind. - Job 12:7-10

I leave you with my newest rose and

May the Lord bless your day, or night with His grace.
